The Prattsville Art Center is proud to present the fourth annual “Headed for the Hills” festival. The free festival brings a kaleidoscopic mix of high-energy performers to Prattsville, N.Y., a small town high in the Catskill Mountains. The festival celebrates “Diversity on Main Street” and highlights women, LGBTQ performers, artists of color, and local musicians. Over 25 performers are included in the three-day event, which melds high-profile indie rock bands with cabaret artists, drag kings, a top NYC DJ, Afro-Jazz and regional performers.
In addition to the music, visitors can experience an All-Asian NYC dance troupe, electronic sound art, and site specific art installations, complimented by workshops, crafts, food, and vendors art throughout the weekend.
The “Headed for the Hills Festival” has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts’ “Challenge America” and “Our Town programs, and from NY State Council on the Arts, and Greene County Council on the Arts.
The cool green mountains of northern Greene County make a lush summer getaway from the urban tri-state area.

Adirondack Trailways buses take you from NY City directly to the Art Center. The buses leave from Penn Station at 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 P.M and go door to door to Prattsville.  Return buses are at 9:59 a.m. and 3:55 p.m. each day.  The bus costs 43$ each way.  These buses also travel to Prattsville from the Hudson Valley through Kingston, NY and from Oneonta to the East. 
Driving takes 2.45 hours from NYC and Prattsville is about 45 minutes from Hudson, Kingston and Catskill.  Street parking on Main Street or look for parking signs in the town of Prattsville. 
You can also take Amtrak to the city of Hudson and rent a car or get a taxi to Prattsville.
Where can I stay if attend the festival?

What else can I do when I'm out there?
The hike to historic Pratt Rock is right in town, with century old store carvings and spectaculer views. Other mountain hikes and swimming holes are in walking and driving distance of the festival. You might want to stop at Kaaterskill Falls or The Phoenicia Diner on your way here.  The nearby rustic towns of Windham and Roxbury have lots of lodging and restaurants options and make a nice day trip.
Where can I eat?
Food trucks and homemade bbq and vegan fare, with local produce are being planned. Within walking distance of the festival are the Prattsville Diner, Jim's Great American for groceries, and the Prattsville Tavern for afordable drinks and rustic ambiance.
When is the festival?
Hours TBA but aproximately 5 - 11 P.M. Friday August 2; 1:00 P.M. - Midnight Saturday, August 3; 1:00 - 10:00 P.M. Sunday, August 4.
Who is playing?
The festival emcee will be famed NYC comedian and Drag King Murray Hill, who will also be performing.  Saturday night headliners are Mannequin Pussy, followed by a special late-night set from DJ BeBe.  Sunday night the headliners are the Screaming Females. Additional acts include: Dustbowl Faeries, The Afro Yaqui Music Collective, Winter Wolf, The JFP, Cal Fish & Frank/ie Consent, BabesNYC, Gin Minsky, Cassanova The King's Royal Court featuring Haus of Peculiar, TRON & DVD, The Magnetic, NPK, Diana Jones, Carissa Johnson, Vanessa Silberman, Bitter Rabbit, Ashley Enright Bellydance, Elly Wininger, Foggy Otis, James Hearne, Girls Out! Guns Out!, and This Wilderness.
Art exhibitions by Joe Mama-Nitzberg, Steven Cerio and The Institute for Clew Studies are planned to run during the festival as well as performance by VESSELS Dance Company, and Robert O. Leaver & Jim Coleman.
Further Tips
Bring warm weather and cool weather clothes.  Most likely the weather will be beautiful and temperate but it can suddenly get hot, rain or get cold at night all in the same day in the mountains.  A blanket may be useful so you can sit on the lawn and use it to keep warm if the temperture goes down. A poncho or portable umbrella could be good too.  If you need bug spray, it can be purchased at the hardware store in Prattsville.
