Quintron at the Chamberlin
ALBUM DESCRIPTION: This is as close as Quintron has come to instrumental Exotica since Amazing Spellcaster, Live at Pussycat Caverns (Bulb Records, 1996). The difference is twenty-plus years spent learning his way around a Hammond B3, and the Mellotron corporation’s incredible reinvention of their legendary tape loop monster in the form of the M4000D. The precursor to the Mellotron was the Chamberlin, invented in Wisconsin by Harry Chamberlin in 1949. The current Mellotron company owns most of the original Chamberlin master tapes and it is these sounds and backing rhythms that Quintron is mostly using on this album. Rumor has it that the musicians whom Harry Chamberlin hired for these backing rhythm tapes were members of the Lawrence Welk orchestra. So, if you ever wanted to hear Q go back in time and do his psych-organ mushroom dance with the OG pink-tux-bubble-mafia …this is your chance.
