INTRODUCTION TO ARA

ARA is a new content protocol with decentralized rewards and distribution. Developers can build apps on a strong infrastructure, and save on content delivery costs.
The community-driven platform and developer SDKs leverage distributed computing, blockchain technology, and the sharing economy to make the delivery and sale of assets quick, cost-effective, and secure.
The ARA protocol suite and decentralized service platform is upheld by a secure distributed file system, decentralized human-meaningful identities, and a global incentives marketplace. ARA uses decentralized identifiers—verifiable platform-wide passports—to return ownership of that data back to users. The platform reinvents the meaning of cloud computing by leveraging unused storage and bandwidth of devices around the world, the immutability and public-verifiability of blockchain technology, reputation systems, and network externalities to form a cheaper and more secure, global decentralized content delivery network. Users can spend tokens to upload and download content or stake them to earn rewards, establishing a complete token economy where users spend and earn the same tokens across all applications built on the platform and removing the need for management of multiple accounts and wallets.

THE HUBBLE CANTATA: A VR SPACE OPERA

THE CHALLENGETo design a VR experience that would transport an audience of 6,000 people from the open-air, outdoor setting of Prospect Park, Brooklyn to the closest region of massive star formation to earth, the Orion Nebula.
THE EXPERIENCEAn Official Selection for both Cannes 2017 and SXSW 2017. Narrated by celebrated Hubble Astrophysicist Mario Livio, the live VR event was viewed in synchrony with the 30-piece Norwegian 1B1 symphony orchestra, a 100-person choir, and 2 opera stars as part of the Celebrate Brooklyn Festival 2016 event. Working closely with award-winning composer Paola Prestini the team designed a Virtual Reality journey built specifically to the live music performance.
THE TECHThe team built a custom app (iOS/Android) alongside a local-server/wireless distribution network enabling all participants the ability to download the entire piece on-site at blazing speed. Coupled with a custom 10 speaker, 360 degree, ambisonic sound system courtesy of ARUP, all 6000 attendees shared the same immersive sound space as they ventured across interstellar space.
